World Airlines Awards-2010 by SkyTrax

Mr Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SkyTrax, handed out awards for the 2010 top ranking airlines as chosen by its customers. Representatives from 40 different airline companies around the world gathered for "The Passenger's Choice" awards to see which global airline company had the most satisfied customers. Korean company Asiana Air received the top honors as the Airline of the Year for 2010. Skytrax announced that the final passenger participation in the World Airline Survey™ between July 2009 and April 2010 totalled 17.94 million eligible completed interviews; the most yet the top ten ranked airlines were as follows:

2. Singapore Airlines
3. Qatar Airways
4. Cathay Pacific Airlines
5. Air New Zealand
6. Etihad Airways
7. Qantas Airlines
8. Emirates Airlines
9. Thai Airways
10. Malaysia Airlines

1. Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines is part of Star Alliance, and flies to over 50 cities in 17 countries.

2. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines may be based in a small country, but it covers a lot of international destinations and flies more passengers every year than the entire population of Singapore.

3. Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways may be in business for less than 15 years, but it has garnered a lot of international attention for its service. 

4. Cathay Pacific Airlines

Cathay Pacific is also a member of the one world alliance and is the top ranked Asian-based airline by Skytrax.

5. Air New Zealand

This airline is a member of Star Alliance and although it is a small airline, it has made quick gains in winning over passengers with its customer service and safety record.

6. Etihad Airways

Haven't heard of this airline? Etihad calls itself the home in air.

7. Qantas Airlines

Qantas is a member of one world, alongside British Airways, and repeatedly scores well with passengers around the world for its service.

8. Emirates Airlines

Emirates hire a lot of foreigners as flight attendants for their airline and this airline consistently win awards for its service.

9. Thai Airways

Thai Airways is the top ranked airline affiliated with Star Alliance. Thai is known for its in-flight service, and its flight attendants wear traditional Thai clothing during their flights.

10. Malaysia Airlines

The red and blue in the logo of Malaysia Airlines is said to represent equilibrium.
